Option 1: Chevrons
Option 2: Crosses (Xs - how do you spell Xs? Exes?)
What do you think? I am leaning toward chevrons, but the Xs are nice and clean looking, too. Just pretend I have more blocks done than are pictured.
Look, babies already like it!
Second, I thought I would share my playdough recipe. Today we are home sick, so I thought we were due for a new batch of playdough. The last batch I made was in November! It is still soft, but it is red and green and we are ready for a change. The kids couldn't decide (DARK BLUE! LIGHT PURPLE!), so I chose peach.
This recipe is from my friend Vanessa, who I believe got it from her ECFE teacher once upon a time.
Playdough
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 cup water
1 Tbsp oil
food coloring
1 Tbsp imitation vanilla (optional)
Combine all ingredients but vanilla in saucepan. Heat, stirring, over medium heat until it comes together but is still slightly wet. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Wrap in plastic and knead until fully pliable. Store at room temp in a covered container.
I was out of vanilla, so I added about 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to it instead, when I added the flour.

ReplyDeletep.s. I like chevrons!
Chevrons! L-
ReplyDeleteI prefer the X's. :)
ReplyDeleteThat playdough recipe is similar to mine....love the addition of vanilla!
I like the crosses. What's the cause?
ReplyDeleteChurch mission trip fundraiser! Ben is going on it this summer.
DeleteI think the chevrons would be cool if you could do them in color family rows. It appears that you pieced the blocks in the same color patterns. So, it would be the brown, blue, green, mustard chevroned across and then the red, orange, yellow, green chevroned across the next row of blocks. Idk, maybe too much thinking going on here... But cute, regardless :)
ReplyDeleteSlow down there. Sounds too complicated for me, unless you want to lay them out in color family order for me?! Ha. Sadly there really isn't much order to my blocks.
DeleteHaha. I do not have a problem doing that for you. But the X's will be fabulous!
DeleteI like the x patter with the squares.
